Places This Page Will Take You!

fish This site was initially constructed as an exercise to teach myself web site construction using Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). I didn't intend to upload the resume files to the world-wide web, but I am always open to new employment challenges in Huntsville Alabama, so I figured, "What the heck?" The page was originally optimized to early versions of MS Internet Explorer but should work well in most other popular browsers. I am working to rewrite the site utilizing HTML 5.

The resume link will take you to pages that link to my background, work history, and education. Feel free to peruse the site and direct any potential employers to it! I'm not actively seeking new employment as I enjoy the menagerie of issues I face in local government IT. However, if you know of any employers that could use someone with my skills and abilities, I am open to receiving emails at Bill-Steiner AT comcast DOT net.

Thank you for visiting. I realize I am "artistically challenged" so feel free to send me any feedback you think may help the presentation of these pages. I know a few well placed images would help the presentation, but I'm not sure what would look good and not out of place.

This site was constructed using CSS and avoiding old style HTML tables. The pages and styling are fairly simple and straightforward and I highly recommend Eric Meyer's books Eric Meyer on CSS and More Eric Meyer on CSS. Another handy book for beginners is Stylin' with CSS by Charles Wyke-Smith.

Construction of this site has also allowed me to learn to build sites utilizing CSS. One of the most interesting problems I ran into was the different ways browsers render the same code. As I alluded to in the main text to the left, I have been attempting to optimize these pages for all popular browsers and I think I have been pretty successful. Constructing this site has also given me something to do and learn while searching for my next (employment) adventure!
