- Renegotiated $1.3M Microsoft Enterprise Agreement
- Converted licensing models to more cost efficient types
- Upgraded Core Device CALs to User ECALs - Decreased CALs required while adding available tools
- Restructured SQL licensing for VM environment - Cost effectiveness saved thousands of dollars annually
- Upgraded Server OS licenses to Datacenter Edition - Negated need for any further OS License purchases
- Invested in and implemented System Center Configuration Manager - An invaluable tool!
- Split CAL types to include Device CALs for Public Safety - Significant savings for shift worker licensing
- New structure insured 100% compliance to agreement
- Revitalized stagnated data center
- Implemented Virtualization and Storage Area Network infrastructure
- Retired numerous obsolete hardware servers - significant energy and space savings

- Identified and corrected electrical power deficiencies
- Mapped out circuitry for server room
- Corrected misconfigured power - Insured redundant power available for all racks
- Identified extremely out of date UPS - Replaced batteries/budgeted for new unit
- Identified and replaced obsolete hardware lacking warranty or support

- Reviewed current SmartNet contract - Identified unneeded types and levels of coverage
- Retired multiple 7-9 year old application servers
- Added various devices to increase security/service

- Packet shaping device to efficiently manage city Internet bandwidth
- ISA proxy, public web server, and dedicated/isolated FTP server
- Email encryption to insure HIPAA compliance for Human Resources
- Wireless Controller addition/upgrade to support city wireless proliferation
- Secondary DMZ to support city administration Cyber Huntsville initiative
- Developed policies and procedures for group and city
- Personal Smart Phone use
- Naming convention standardization
- Active Directory Add/Delete/Change
- Building (Physical) Security
- Effected $455K network core upgrade
- Elected to bid project instead of using available state contract
- Negotiated a less-then-contract price for an extra $25K savings
- Upgraded server network and connection to DR site to 10 Gbps speeds
- Timed the upgrade to coincide with existing hardware End of Life (EOL)
